Rigorous proofreading and technical verification to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Delivery:
Subtitles delivered in your preferred format, normally .srt, ready for integration into your videos.
The first line is the sequence number of the subtitle block.
The second line is the time in the HH format.:MM:CC,MLS - indicating when and for how long the text should be displayed on the screen.
The third line is the text that should be displayed for a specified period of time.
An SRT file (SubRip Text subtitle file) is a plain-text file that contains the subtitles for a video along with timecodes indicating when each subtitle should appear and disappear on screen.
Key Concepts:
Subtitle Text: The actual dialogue or captions to be shown.
Timecode: A timestamp in the format HH:MM:SS,mmm (hours:minutes:seconds.milliseconds) that tells your media player exactly when to display and hide each subtitle.
Subtitle translation and production typically follow three stages:
Transcript & Timecoding
I transcribe the video’s audio track word-for-word.
I insert timecodes into the transcript so each line matches the exact in-/out points in the video.
Translation & Proofreading
I translate the transcribed text into the target language.
I review and proofread for accuracy, style, and natural flow.
SRT Assembly & Quality Check
I build the final .srt file using the translated, time-coded transcript.
I test the subtitles over the video to confirm synchronization, character limits, and readability.
To ensure that the subtitling meets your requirements, here are some initial questions I might discuss with you:
Who is your target audience (region, age group, general background)?
What style of subtitles do you prefer (formal, casual, instructional)?
Do you have any specific formatting requirements (font size, subtitle positioning, character limits)?
What is the intended platform for your content (TV, YouTube, streaming services, corporate training)?
Do you have a transcript or script available?
Are there existing subtitles that need editing, or will these be created from scratch?
